Elon Musk, Florida U.S. Senator Rick Scott Decry Verdict In Trump Hush Money Trial
U.S. Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk both posted statements on X denouncing the verdict in the New York hush money trial of former President Donald Trump.
Trump was convicted by a 12-person jury on 34 counts of falsifying business records that is punishable by up to four years in prison for each count.
Trump's sentencing is scheduled for July 11.
"Indeed, great damage was done today to the public’s faith in the American legal system," Musk tweeted.
"If a former President can be criminally convicted over such a trivial matter – motivated by politics, rather than justice – then anyone is at risk of a similar fate."

Senator Scott echoed Musk's sentiment.
"This was a sham trial and the clearest example we’ve ever seen of election interference. I am furious and no American is safe from Democrat political persecution," said Scott.
"Joe Biden and the Democrat machine manufactured a legal case against Trump to win an election. I went to New York to stand with President Trump and the American voters will stand with him this November."
