Overcharged At Walmart? You May Get Up To $500 From Class-Action Settlement
ORLANDO, Florida - Customers can receive up to $500 from a settlement in a class-action lawsuit alleging that Walmart overcharged for certain products sold in their stores.
The settlement, which affects those who purchased weighted goods or bagged citrus in-person at a Walmart store in the United States or Puerto Rico between October 19, 2018, and January 19, 2024, offers potential compensation of up to $500 per claimant.
The lawsuit claimed that customers were charged more than the lowest advertised price for these products.
Walmart has denied these allegations and maintains its innocence in the matter.
"Weighted Goods" include various meats, poultry, pork, and seafood sold by weight, while "Bagged Citrus" refers to organic oranges, grapefruit, tangerines, and navel oranges sold in bulk.
Walmart customers who qualify may receive a payment by submitting a claim form, with the potential amount depending on the number of weighted goods or bagged citrus purchased during the specified period.
Customers who have receipts will be entitled to receive 2% of the total purchase cost up to $500.00.
What If I Don't Have A Walmart Receipt?
You may be able to obtain copies of your receipts from Walmart’s website.
If customers do not have receipts for the items, they can still receive $10 to $25 by attesting that they purchased the items.
Important dates to note for potential claimants are as follows:
May 22, 2024: Deadline to exclude oneself from the settlement or object to/comment on it.
June 5, 2024: Deadline to submit a claim.
June 12, 2024 at 10:00 AM ET: Final approval hearing.
