Florida Man Charged With Stalking After Blasting Turkey Calls At Neighbor

WAKULLA COUNTY, Florida - A Florida man was arrested and charged with stalking after allegedly blasting turkey calls over a loudspeaker to annoy his neighbor in an ongoing 10-month dispute. DW Sanders, aged 50, was arrested for stalking following an investigation conducted pursuant to the Sustained Solutions Program. In January 2024, the S2 Program was initiated by the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office to address continuous complaints and protracted situations, such as ongoing disagreements and nuisances, typified by repeated calls to the agency. The goal of S2 is to bring about finality to these ongoing situations and/or to facilitate the mitigation of contributory underlying issues. From June 2023 through April 2024, deputies were repeatedly dispatched to Mr. Sanders’ residence. There were 14 complaints, three incident reports, and one battery arrest made at his address during that time. The primary contributory underlying issue to much of this ongoing matter was that Mr. Sanders’ dogs allegedly went onto his neighbor’s property and killed their chickens and turkeys. Animal Control then set a trap and caught one of his dogs on the neighbor’s property. Thereafter, deputies say that Mr. Sanders has been playing loud music or turkey calls over a loudspeaker to annoy his neighbors. "Each of the previous instances was investigated as isolated incidents. There were requests to turn down the loud noises, responses to complaints of trespassing, a trespass warning issued, etc.," the Wakulla Sheriff's Office stated in a press release. Under the S2 Program, it was determined that Mr. Sanders has engaged in a course of conduct directed at his neighbor that has caused substantial emotional distress and serves no legitimate purpose. After deputies made repeated attempts to locate him at his residence, Mr. Sanders turned himself in on April 24, and he was booked into the Wakulla County jail.
