Flood Watch, Wind Advisory, Tornadoes Possible For South Florida
MIAMI, Florida - The National Weather Service in Miami, Florida has issued a Flood Watch and Wind Advisory for the following areas of South Florida:
South Florida Wind Advisory
A Wind Advisory is in effect from noon today until 8 PM EDT Saturday for Metro Palm Beach County, Metro Broward County, Metropolitan Miami Dade, Coastal Palm Beach County, Coastal Broward County, and Coastal Miami Dade County. South winds of 20 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph, are expected during this period.
The advisory warns of potential hazards such as unsecured objects being blown around, tree limbs falling, and isolated power outages. Motorists, especially those driving high-profile vehicles, are advised to exercise caution on the roads. Additionally, securing outdoor objects is recommended to prevent damage from the gusty winds.
South Florida Flood Watch
A Flood Watch remains in effect from 8 AM EDT this morning through Saturday evening.
The affected areas include portions of southeast and southwest Florida, encompassing Coastal Broward County, Coastal Miami Dade County, Far South Miami-Dade County, Inland Broward County, Inland Miami-Dade County, Metro Broward County, Metropolitan Miami Dade, Coastal Collier County, Inland Collier County, and Mainland Monroe.
Residents are warned of possible flooding in rivers, creeks, streams, and low-lying areas, particularly those with poor drainage systems.
The NWS anticipates widespread rainfall ranging from 2 to 4 inches, with locally higher amounts possible. Individuals living in flood-prone regions are urged to stay updated on forecasts and prepare for potential Flood Warnings.
