Credit: US NavyPORT CANAVERAL, Florida - The first stage of a Trident II missile failed to fire after being launched from a British submarine and plunged back into the Atlantic Ocean off of the coast of Port Canaveral, Florida on January 30, 2024, British newspaper The Sun reported.The Royal Navy's 15,000-ton HMS Vanguard submarine was not hit by the wayward missile as it plunged back into the ocean.This is the second time a British Trident II missile failed to fire, the first time was in 2016, also off the coast of Florida.A search for the defunct missile on the ocean floor was conducted, The Sun reports.
