Florida Bank Robber Takes Hostages, Shot Dead By Sniper

FORT MYERS, Florida – A suspected Florida bank robber who had taken two hostages inside a Bank of America in Fort Myers, Florida, was shot and killed by a sniper.

Around 11 a.m., the and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Bank of America located in the Bell Tower Shops area.

A group of deputies immediately went into the building where the Bank of America was located to secure other areas of the building while dozens of people fled from the bank.

Meanwhile the Lee County Sheriff’s S.W.A.T. got into place and the Sheriff’s office deployed several technologies, including a robo-dog, drones, and electronic surveillance.

Law enforcement began to negotiate with the suspect and he bevame physical by putting one of the hostages in a headlock and held a knife to her throat. That’s when a Lee County Sheriff’s Office S.W.A.T, sniper shot the suspect.

According to Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno, the two hostages were not harmed.
