AAA: Florida Gas Prices Up 6 Cents

ORLANDO, Florida – Gas prices in Florida increased by 6 cents per gallon to $3.33, according to AAA.

The Sunshine State's average is 6 cents more than a week ago, and 33 cents more than what drivers paid a month ago.

The statewide average is also higher than what drivers paid a year ago, when drivers paid $3.29 per gallon.

Florida gas prices are  6 cents higher than the national average of $3.27 per gallon

AAA says that a significant contributor is a shutdown at the large BP-Whiting refinery in Indiana, which has been offline for more than two weeks due to a power outage.

The refinery processes 435,000 barrels of crude per day, and the shutdown has caused prices throughout the Midwest to climb, pushing the national average higher as well.
