 U.S. President Donald Trump

DES MOiNES, Iowa – Former U.S. President Donald Trump won the Republican Iowa caucuses for the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election with 51% of the vote.

Trump’s 30-point lead with the biggest margin of victory in caucus history, breaking the record held by Bob Dole since 1988.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis came in a distant second with 21%, followed by former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley who garnered 19.1% to place in third.

Both Haley and DeSantis are trying to convince Republican voters that they are the front-running alternative to Trump.

Trump’s huge win has been attributed to Evangelical Christian caucusgoers who historically tend to vote for the most socially conservative candidate is past caucuses (Mike Huckabee in 2008, Rick Santorum in 2012, and Ted Cruz in 2016).

Vivek Ramaswamy, who announced that he was suspending his campaign and endorsed Trump last night, obtained 7.7% of the vote.
