Severe Weather, Tornadoes Possible For Central Florida

, Florida –  An approaching cold front will bring widely scattered to scattered thunderstorms, strong to damaging wind gusts, small hail, waterspouts, and a few tornadoes are forecast across on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, according to ‘s National Service Storm Prediction Center.

Central Florida Severe Weather Timing

According to the National Weather Service, an increase in showers and isolated to scattered lightning storms is expected from late morning into the afternoon in Central Florida ahead of an approaching cold front.

As storms organize this afternoon, strong to isolated severe storms capable of producing strong to damaging wind gusts of 40 to 60 mph, small hail, and perhaps a or two are possible.

The storms will also be capable of producing waterspouts on inland lakes, the Intracoastal Waterway, and adjacent Atlantic waters.

These storms will move quickly to the northeast at around 40 mph.
