Sarasota County Commission Approves Higher Density On Siesta Key

SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. – The Sarasota County Commission, with a 3-1 majority, advanced a proposal on Tuesday to remove restrictions on hotel sizes, allowing for unlimited capacity.

Mark Smith, the commissioner representing Siesta Key, cast the sole dissenting vote.

Three developers presented proposals for comprehensive plan changes, including options for 52 units per acre, 52 units per acre with a cap of 75 units, and unlimited units.
