NOAA National Hurricane Center Invest 96L Projected Path

MIAMI, Florida – NOAA’s National Hurricane Center in Miami, Florida, issued a Tropical Weather Outlook at 8 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, due to the presence of a system that may form into a tropical cyclone within the next 7 days.

The system, dubbed Invest 96L, is a tropical wave located a couple of hundred miles east of the Windward Islands that is producing limited shower and thunderstorm activity(marked with a yellow "X" east-southeast of Hurricane Beryl).

NHC forecasters say that development, if any, of this system should be slow to occur while it moves quickly westward to west-northwestward at 20 to 25 mph across the Caribbean Sea.

Regardless of development, gusty winds and locally heavy rainfall are possible across portions of the Lesser Antilles today.

This system has a 20% chance of tropical cyclone formation within the next 7 days and a 10% chance within the next 48 hours.
